Jody L. Whisenant, O.D.

Jody L. Whisenant, O.D., is a well-respected optometrist who was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. Dr. Whisenant began his journey by graduating with honors from Georgia-Cumberland Academy. He then attended Walla Walla College in Walla Walla, Washington and Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, Tennessee. He later went on to graduate with honors from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where he became a Doctor of Optometry.

Since his completion of optometry school, Dr. Whisenant has had several long-standing professional affiliations. He began his career as part of an ophthalmology group in Gainesville for three years when he was offered a position at Gainesville Eye Associates, where he practiced for 11 years. Dr. Whisenant was then given the opportunity to co-own his own practice with Dr. Thomas Rossi. He and Dr. Rossi successfully ran this practice for 28 years, until Dr. Rossi’s retirement. Gainesville Eye Associates is proud to welcome him back to our team of top physicians.

Dr. Whisenant has a number of professional affiliations and a long-time membership in several associations, which include the American Optometric Association, Southern Council of Optometrists, and Georgia Optometric Association. He has won several awards including Young Optometrist of the Year 1988, Presidential Citation, Optometrist of the year 1999 and the Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Whisenant has also been a member of the Hall County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Gainesville and Gainesville Jaycees for several years.
